This paper attempts to estimate the wealth of social capital in Mexico under the focus of Putnam's horizontal associations. Specifically it comes to building social capital indicators to rank the states of Mexico and see if in the case of Mexico is still the assumption of two regions (such as Putnam argues) bounded in their levels of social capital; also aims to provide, so exploratory, evidence of growth in levels of social capital, its determinants and their relation with the economic performance of states and regions of Mexico.
